Rakočević: The situation regarding sanctions against the director of RTRS to be presented to the International and European Federation of Journalists

The situation regarding the sanctions imposed on RTRS Director Dijana Milanković will be presented to the International and European Federation of Journalists, stated Živojin Rakočević, President of the Association of Journalists of Serbia, during an appearance on the Morning Program.

He described the sanctions as nonsensical, explaining that no media outlet in the world would ignore marking the national day of its own country.

“It is crucial to present the situation in which RTRS currently finds itself,” Rakočević emphasized.

Regarding the new U.S. sanctions, he raised three key questions:

“Why is the outgoing administration doing this? Why were these individuals specifically targeted for sanctions? And why was the Day of Republika Srpska used as a pretext? It appears as though the outgoing U.S. administration has harbored this intent all along, and that their final days are marked by elements of retaliation, bringing to light their stance toward Republika Srpska,” he said.

To recall, the United States has imposed new sanctions on Bosnia and Herzegovina, targeting 13 individuals from Republika Srpska.

Among those sanctioned are the President of the Constitutional Court of Srpska, Džerard Selman, the Minister of Interior, Siniša Karan, and the President of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Republika Srpska, Rajko Kuzmanović.

Also on the list of sanctioned individuals is RTRS General Director Dijana Milanković.
