The Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers, Staša Košarac, stated that it is absurd and disgraceful for a country to elevate an illegitimate foreigner above legitimate institutions and democratically elected representatives of the people.
Košarac emphasized that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska reflects the democratic electoral will of the people in Srpska and, in accordance with the Constitution and the Dayton Agreement, adopts legitimate decisions—unlike Christian Schmidt, who lacks legitimacy.
- No one can determine Schmidt’s ‘identity.’ Who is he? In the absence of legitimacy as a High Representative, certain mediocrities persistently try to present Schmidt as someone with legitimacy – Košarac told Srna regarding Schmidt’s decision on the conclusions adopted by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska during its special session on December 24 and 25.
He described Schmidt’s “latest nonsense” concerning the conclusions of the National Assembly as part of a deliberate and orchestrated attack on Srpska’s institutions, aimed at undermining them, but also as a classic provocation ahead of January 9—the Day of Republika Srpska.
- This is a chronic occurrence. Besides attacking the legitimately elected President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, who performs his duties in accordance with the Constitution, there is now an attempt to undermine the National Assembly of Srpska – Košarac warned.
He pointed out that the EU remains silent about such actions.
- Does this mean they support colonialism, the arbitrariness of an illegitimate foreigner, and the blatant undermining of democratic institutions and the free will of citizens? Are these the European values they promote in such a Bosnia and Herzegovina? – Košarac asked.
He also questioned how the U.S. Embassy could publicly support Schmidt’s decisions even before they were published on the OHR website.
Do they really think we are so naive that we do not see the absolute synergy and joint actions of the malignant duo Schmidt and Murphy against Srpska? Košarac said.
He pointed out that the fight against Srpska has, unfortunately, been accepted in parts of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina by structures that routinely choose partnerships with foreigners in an effort to harm Srpska.
- What is even more regrettable is the synergy between the opposition in Srpska, the OHR, and certain Western embassies, as evidenced by the fact that the opposition in the National Assembly did not support the conclusions that are now being contested by the notorious Schmidt – Košarac added.
He emphasized that Republika Srpska does not recognize the illegitimate foreigner as any kind of authority and that Schmidt does not exist for Srpska.
- With the conclusions of the National Assembly, Republika Srpska has been further strengthened. We are proud of the democratic capacity and responsibility of Srpska’s leadership, which remains mobilized and focused on protecting the interests of Srpska and its citizens – Košarac stated.
He stressed that Srpska’s policy is based on peace, stability, respect for the Dayton Agreement, and agreements between the two entities and three constituent peoples, without international interventionism.
- We will not succumb to pressures and attacks on Srpska’s institutions, its president, and the positions of the Serb people. The National Assembly is the address for adopting constitutional, Dayton-compliant, and legitimate decisions – Košarac concluded.
