The city of Zvornik will make history as the international cycling race “Belgrade – Banja Luka” will be renamed “Race through Serbia and Republika Srpska” starting next year. This time, the city on the Drina River will host the finish of the first stage of the 19th edition of this two-wheel spectacle.
The mayor of Zvornik, Bojan Ivanović, and the director of the “Belgrade – Banja Luka” race, Vladimir Kuvalja, signed an agreement for Zvornik’s participation in organizing this sporting event, which will take place from April 23 to April 26 next year.
- This is an event of great importance for Zvornik, and we are grateful to the competition’s management for their trust. It is an honor for our city to be part of an international cycling race that has outgrown regional boundaries. We will do our best to be good hosts and ensure participants leave with fond memories of Zvornik – said Ivanović.
In the 19th edition of the largest sports caravan in the region, a total of four stages will be ridden, featuring around 170 cyclists from 37 countries and 25 teams.
- We expect high-quality competition, and from next year, the race will be called “Race through Serbia and Republika Srpska.” I am proud that the race has lasted for 19 years. Cyclists enjoy coming to Republika Srpska and Serbia. Thanks to the office of the president of Republika Srpska, the governments of Republika Srpska and Serbia, as well as the cities, for their support – said the race director, Vladimir Kuvalja.
