Košarac: Republika Srpska is responsible for every step forward on the EU path

Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac stated that every advancement Bosnia and Herzegovina has made on the EU path is due to the efforts of Republika Srpska’s institutions and its representatives at the joint level.

Košarac emphasized that commitment to European integration is unwavering and that Republika Srpska’s visibility is definitively ensured in all processes.

“We insist that the process of European integration be conducted in accordance with the established coordination mechanism, respecting the competencies and constitutional capacity of Republika Srpska,” Košarac wrote on Instagram.

He noted that the policy of Serb representatives is responsible and clear, which is well-known to Bosniak politicians in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), although they persistently try to unjustly place the blame for blockages on Republika Srpska.

“If they genuinely wish to continue on the European path, it is essential to address the situation within FBiH. The stalemate has arisen due to issues between the cantons and the federal structure, or more specifically, the inability of the ‘Troika’ to reach an agreement with the SDA,” Košarac said, responding to a statement by Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković about the need to pass certain laws for the EU.

Košarac stressed that Konaković must understand that the law on the Constitutional Court of BiH is imperative.

“He must understand that it is necessary to pass a law on the Constitutional Court of BiH and end the mandates of foreign judges, as this is one of the 14 key priorities outlined in the European Commission’s Opinion. The ‘Troika’ representatives must raise their hands in support of this law,” Košarac stated.

He further pointed out that Konaković needs to understand the importance of unblocking processes related to the implementation of projects such as the construction of the Buk Bijela Hydropower Plant, the Eastern New Interconnection, and the airport in Trebinje.

“He must also realize that responsibility lies with the ‘Troika’ representatives, who are blocking certain processes at the level of BiH institutions,” Košarac added.

He reiterated that Republika Srpska has demonstrated a responsible and consistent policy.

“To reiterate, we are determined to continue with European integration through agreement between the two entities and the three constituent peoples, respecting the coordination mechanism, competencies, and constitutional capacity of Republika Srpska,” Košarac concluded.
