The Russian Federation has a strategic relationship with Republika Srpska and we are closely following the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, said Igor Kalabukhov, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, in an interview with Pečat.
Kalabukhov stated that Republika Srpska has its own positions regarding foreign policy priorities.
“Srpska has made it clear that it does not want to join NATO and has explicitly stated that membership is not in its interest,” Kalabukhov said.
He also commented on the sanctions imposed by the United States.
“The United States’ policy is felt by the Russian Federation as well. The sanctions imposed by the U.S. are illegitimate,” Kalabukhov firmly stated.
He mentioned that it is uncertain whether U.S. policy will change.
“There are upcoming elections there, and the situation is fifty-fifty,” Kalabukhov added.
Kalabukhov: Increasing opinions in the EU that prosperity is not achievable without Russia
There is a growing sentiment in the European Union that prosperity cannot be achieved without Russia, Kalabukhov stated.
He mentioned that this view is increasingly prevalent in Germany and other countries as well.
“This also relates to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The implementation of the Dayton Agreement cannot be achieved without Russia,” Kalabukhov believes.
Kalabukhov: The arrival of the President of Srpska at BRICS is an opportunity to strengthen relations with Russia
The arrival of President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik at the BRICS Summit in Kazan is an opportunity to enhance relations between Srpska and the Russian Federation, and a personal meeting between Dodik and Russian President Vladimir Putin is not excluded, Kalabukhov said.
“This is a historic event, as for the first time, the leaders of 10 BRICS countries will gather,” Kalabukhov said.
He stated that concrete results from the summit are expected.
Kalabukhov also spoke about the possibility of Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly Republika Srpska, becoming a BRICS member.
“I believe that President Dodik’s visit to Kazan for this forum is an indicator and recognition of the realism behind what BRICS offers,” Kalabukhov added.
He emphasized that he believes President Milorad Dodik of Republika Srpska will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We are constantly talking about improving relations between Republika Srpska and the Russian Federation, and there is also an opportunity for contact with other world leaders, which will allow Republika Srpska to showcase its capacities,” Kalabukhov noted.
Kalabukhov: Zelensky’s plan is an illusion
The “victory plan” of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is an illusion, Kalabukhov said.
He emphasized that Zelensky’s sole aim is to secure as much money as possible from the West.
“He just wants to prolong the agony, while we are moving forward. The longer they delay negotiations with Russia, the more defeats they face. We will see how things progress after our victory,” Kalabukhov said.
Kalabukhov on protests against Schmidt
Commenting on the protests by Bosniaks against Christian Schmidt in front of the OHR in Sarajevo, Kalabukhov said that the Bosniaks had supported the “false” High Representative, but when he did something they didn’t like, they started to revolt.
