BRICS represents an alternative to the old world, which is in decline on the global and historical stage, making it crucial for Republika Srpska to identify friends, partners, and allies in the new emerging world order, said Željko Budimir, Minister of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education, in an interview with Srna.
“Republika Srpska has its most important ally and partner in the Russian Federation,” Budimir stated.
He emphasized that the strong relations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Republika Srpska’s President Milorad Dodik serve as an entry point into the conference that represents the new world, led by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, along with other countries quickly joining this new multipolar structure.
“Republika Srpska seeks its place in this evolving order. I believe the connections we will establish at the conference and on its sidelines will help solidify Republika Srpska’s constitutional position within Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Budimir noted.
He added that the economy is one of the most important aspects of BRICS, which unites the world’s largest global and regional economic powers.
Budimir highlighted that while cooperation with the Russian Federation is very active, it has been economically strained due to the special military operation. He also pointed out that collaboration with China, the most significant economic force within BRICS, is becoming increasingly intensive, with most infrastructural projects being carried out with Chinese partners.
“On the other hand, we also have regional powers like India and Brazil, where we will certainly seek to establish connections,” Budimir concluded.
Earlier, Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik announced that he would attend the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, where he will meet with several important figures, describing the invitation as a great recognition for Republika Srpska and its policies.
The BRICS summit, scheduled for October 22–24 in Kazan, will gather numerous world leaders.
