Orjen Nature Park is a mountain that will captivate and amaze you with its stone plateaus and striking, cracked rocks.
At first glance, Orjen may seem inhospitable and unconquerable, but let it enchant you with its very first steps and stunning vistas.
On this mountain lies the famous village of Crkvice, considered the rainiest place in Europe, receiving around 5 meters of rainfall annually. The Orjen massif is quite unusual, filled with raw beauty. Unlike Alpine landscapes with glaciers, jagged peaks, lakes, and rushing streams, Orjen’s central part is full of stone plateaus, cracked rocks, and deep pits.
Interestingly, despite the grayness of limestone, the mountain is also filled with the green hues of dense forests. Thanks to the large amounts of snow and rain during the colder months, and despite the surface dryness, this area supports the growth of forests.
