As part of the strategic program for the gasification of Republika Srpska, gas will be supplied to Jahorina starting on October 5th, as previously announced.
The project, which includes the gasification of the entire mountain and the town of Pale, is valued at 15 million BAM. The beginning of next year will see the planned gasification of the eastern part of Republika Srpska, followed by the construction of the main gas pipeline from Bijeljina to Banja Luka.
Two months after laying the first pipe on Jahorina, the project “Natural Gas – Jahorina as a symbol of clean energy” is nearing completion. The distribution network currently spans 11 kilometers. The government of Republika Srpska provided a guarantee for the 15 million BAM credit needed for the project.
“The primary station will be in Pale, where a measuring and regulating station for compressed natural gas is planned. From there, the gas pipeline will distribute gas from high to medium pressure,” said Bojan Marinčić, a representative of the contractor “GasTeh” from Inđija.
To illustrate, for connection and construction work in a household that consumes 24 kilowatts of thermal energy, such as vacation homes on Jahorina, the cost is estimated to be up to 1,000 BAM.
For the new heating plant in Pale, 10 million euros have been secured through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and a grant from Switzerland.
“We are starting with the heating plant next year. The funds have already been approved, and with the support of the Government and the Council of Ministers, we will quickly gasify the eastern part of Republika Srpska and proceed with the main task, which is the main gas pipeline from Bijeljina to Banja Luka,” said Nedeljko Elek, General Director of “Sarajevo-gas” in East Sarajevo.
The strategic intention of the Government of Republika Srpska to extend the gas infrastructure across the region aligns with the green agenda.
“What is commendable for the institutions of Republika Srpska are the assessments from the energy community that Srpska is fulfilling all its obligations and directives, and one of these is this project,” said Staša Košarac, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers.
Along with the environmentally clean Jahorina and Pale, there are benefits for the tourism industry as well.
“Our businesses on Jahorina, and next year on Igrišta, will be able to access affordable gas, which will significantly improve their operations and reduce costs,” noted Denis Šulić, Minister of Trade and Tourism in the Government of Republika Srpska.
Eleven kilometers of primary gas network and another 16 kilometers of secondary, just on Jahorina, will allow more than 300,000 square meters of usable space to be heated with an environmentally healthier energy source.
