Budimir: Increased chances for Trump

Professor of International Relations at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Banja Luka, Željko Budimir, believes that the chances of the Republican candidate for the US presidency, Donald Trump, have increased following the withdrawal of the current President, Joseph Biden, from the election race and the almost certain nomination of Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate.

“Kamala Harris, the current Vice President of the US, has not yet been officially nominated as a candidate, but it is almost certain. My assessment is that she is one of the weakest candidates. She is a forced choice,” said Budimir.

He emphasized that the Democrats are currently in a more unfavorable position than they were before Biden’s withdrawal, especially after the assassination attempt on Trump, which has increased his electoral prospects.

Budimir told ATV that there is still a considerable amount of time until the elections, but that internal relations in the US are radicalized, that the election race is accompanied by the danger of violence, and that the US electoral system is complicated and prone to manipulation.

Budimir also pointed out that the US acts in a manner on the foreign policy front that is not favorable for those countries it characterizes as adversaries.
