Zlatan Klokić, Minister for European Integration and International Cooperation of Republika Srpska, emphasized that the US Embassy in Sarajevo should stop acting unlawfully as a political attack dog on behalf of certain parties in BiH and instead adhere to its diplomatic functions as required by the Vienna Convention.
Klokić pointed out that the US Embassy in Sarajevo no longer even pretends to be a diplomatic mission, given that it has become, and that unlawfully, an active participant in the internal politics of BiH.
According to him, the Embassy completely disregards the legally binding Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which obliges diplomats to “not interfere in the internal affairs” of the host country.
“This week, the Embassy hit a new low by attacking the Government of Republika Srpska over its decisions on borrowing for consumption, which fundamentally falls under the internal matters of a country,” Klokić wrote on the social network X.
Klokić reminded that the US Embassy resorted to social media platform X, through which it accused the Government of Republika Srpska of borrowing 1.1 billion KM over the past 18 months and posed the question “where is the money?”
“Diplomats from BiH could ask the same question about the 1.7 trillion dollars (around 3 trillion KM) that the US Government borrowed just in the past year, but it would never occur to diplomats to so flagrantly interfere in US politics contrary to the Vienna Convention,” Klokić added.
