Dodik: Moscow supports Srpska’s efforts to uphold the Dayton Agreement

Moscow stands behind Republika Srpska’s efforts to uphold the Dayton Agreement, stated Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik after meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg.

Dodik emphasized that Putin is full of friendship and understanding.

Russia is a guarantor of Dayton and has acted in accordance with the letter of Dayton, Dodik noted.

Dodik pointed out that Russia is very disappointed with the lack of partnership and agreements with the West, as all agreements reached so far, such as the Minsk agreements, have been completely undermined by the West.

  • The West has abused Russia’s goodwill to maintain stability and peace, Dodik stated.

Dodik highlighted that they noted the global community did not support initiatives aimed at exploiting the procedural rules of the UN General Assembly regarding Srebrenica.

  • Russia has been principled on this issue, stating that it will not help, that it will not reconcile people, and that it will create even greater internal problems. Russia was right, while Germany and other countries were not, Dodik said.

He informed Putin that the All-Serbian Assembly would be held on Saturday.

  • We will demonstrate unity and adopt an important declaration, Dodik stated.

Dodik mentioned that Putin sent his regards to the Serb people.

Dodik also announced that he would have another meeting with Putin by the end of the year.

  • All agreements we had in previous meetings are being successfully implemented. I expressed my gratitude for being invited to the Economic Forum again this year. Putin informed me that Russia is experiencing one of the highest growth rates in the world and is now the fourth-largest economy globally, which indicates proper management of processes in this country, Dodik said after the meeting.

They also discussed the Russian church being built in Banja Luka.

  • President Putin himself initiated the topic, and I informed him that the church would be roofed this year, Dodik said, adding that Russia will help with the interior decoration of the church.

Dodik also thanked Putin for inviting Serb athletes to the BRICS Sports Games.
