The Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Elmedin Konaković, should have personally apologized to his colleagues in Slovenia, Poland, and Romania, as their citizens residing in BiH will not be able to vote in the EU parliamentary elections due to the unconstitutional usurpation of BiH’s foreign policy by Bosniak politicians, says Nenad Nešić, president of DNS and Minister of Security in the Council of Ministers of BiH.
Commenting on Konaković’s letter to his colleagues in Slovenia, Poland, and Romania, Nešić emphasized that the responsibility for the deterioration of bilateral relations not only with these three countries but much more broadly lies with Bosniak politicians.
- When they attacked the Constitution of BiH and its provision that the Presidency of BiH leads foreign policy by consensus, they had to know there would be consequences. Now they are facing them and can start apologizing to all the countries they have dragged into their manipulations. Russia has nothing to do with this, nor is there any talk of their influence. This is an authentic Serb response and a lesson about what BiH is – a complex community founded on the principle of consensus among three peoples and two entities. BiH is not a toy in the hands of Bosniak politicians to do whatever they want without consequences, Nešić said.
Before lecturing others on irresponsibility, Nešić added, Konaković needs to address his own irresponsibility.
- Populism is short-lived, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs is expected to respect the Constitution of BiH and not place himself above the Presidency of BiH. When he behaves accordingly and understands that the position of BiH is only what the Presidency of BiH verifies, there will be no such forced actions and moves. BiH cannot survive as a sponsor and co-sponsor toy but as an agreement among Serbs, Bosniaks, and Croats. Dino seems to have not learned his lesson after the UN fiasco, Nešić concluded.
