The Audio-Visual Centre of Republika Srpska is marking five years of operation, with viewers of Radio Television of Republika Srpska given the opportunity to watch the results of its work through a series of five documentary films supported by the Centre.
The program has already featured the film The Only One, directed by Denis Bojić.
The remaining four films will be broadcast throughout April. These productions were completed over the past year, with their development tracing back to the establishment of the Audio-Visual Centre.
According to Centre director Anja Ilić, the institution represents a turning point for filmmaking in Republika Srpska.
“The fact that we have received more than 400 project applications clearly shows how necessary the establishment of such an institution was,” Ilić said.
The Centre is actively engaged in education, project development, international promotion, and support for feature film production.
A particularly significant project is the film Rabies, directed by Saša Hajduković, which addresses national themes, focusing on the suffering of Serbs during World War II, including events in Drakulić, Motike, Šargovac, and the Rakovac mine.
“We are currently in the preparation phase and feel a great responsibility toward this subject and the victims,” Hajduković said.
The Audio-Visual Centre plans to launch eight public calls this year, with the first set—focused on the production of short and feature films—scheduled for April 13.
Ilić emphasized that this year’s focus shifts toward production, following earlier years centered on development.
Additional films in the series include Afraid of Beauty by Jelena Medić, set to air on April 17, followed by The Old Man and His Dream by Duško Mazalica, and The Flying Nun, produced by the Mania production company.
The series will conclude with Plastic Gods and the Mirror, directed by Branko Lazić.
