SNSD leader Milorad Dodik stated that Viktor Orbán has not said his final word in politics, expressing regret over his electoral defeat but emphasizing that their cooperation will continue.
“I am sorry he lost. He was my friend and remains my friend,” Dodik said.
He highlighted that Orbán demonstrated democratic legitimacy by accepting the election results and overseeing a smooth transition of power.
“He showed that many accusations labeling him as a dictator were unfounded, as he recognized the election results and carried out a transition of power without any restrictions,” Dodik added.
Dodik noted that people in Republika Srpska remain grateful to Orbán, particularly for his understanding of their political position.
“We were often left alone here, apart from Serbia and Russia, facing opposition from the neoliberal world. Orbán was a voice of reason,” he said, adding that he hopes to meet with him soon to discuss future cooperation.
Commenting on joint projects between Republika Srpska and Hungary, Dodik said that most agreements had been reached with Orbán’s government and that many have already been implemented.
“If there is any interruption, it will be a unilateral decision from the Hungarian side. We will continue where possible; if not, we managed even before these past five or six years,” Dodik concluded.
