SNSD leader Milorad Dodik said that this year’s commemoration of the victims of the Ustasha genocide in Donja Gradina will emphasize that these crimes were never adequately sanctioned.
Speaking ahead of the remembrance ceremony scheduled for April 19, Dodik stated that the key message will be that justice has not been fully achieved for the victims and that it is necessary to reaffirm that crimes must be punished.
“I believe that this year we will place special emphasis on the fact that this crime has never been sanctioned in a way that satisfies justice, and that we must send a clear message that crimes are punishable,” Dodik said.
He added that high-level delegations are expected to attend the event, including representatives from the United States, several European countries, and Aleksandar Vučić.
The Government of Republika Srpska has declared April 19 a Day of Mourning, marking the remembrance of victims of the Ustasha genocide committed between 1941 and 1945 in the Independent State of Croatia, particularly at the Jasenovac concentration camp and its largest execution site in Donja Gradina.
