Republika Srpska has received another confirmation of its favorable business environment. This was clearly emphasized in Banja Luka by Donald Trump Jr., the son of the U.S. president, who highlighted that, alongside electricity resources, key advantages include a highly educated workforce and a competitive tax policy.
Tax rates in Republika Srpska are among the most competitive in Europe. The corporate profit tax stands at 10 percent, while dividends and income from ownership stakes in limited liability companies are not taxed.
“We offer certain incentives, such as reduced tax bases for investments in production and equipment within manufacturing sectors. When it comes to the tax burden on labor—the so-called tax wedge—we are also highly competitive,” said Goran Maričić, Director of the Tax Administration of Republika Srpska.
Over the past five years, the Government of Republika Srpska has reduced tax rates several times. One example is the personal income tax rate, which has been lowered from 10 percent to 8 percent.
“We can highlight that our tax system is centralized, as is the organization of the Tax Administration. Regulations are clear and precise, providing legal certainty for potential investors,” Maričić added.
This creates a strong foundation for new investments, further reinforced by the visit of Donald Trump Jr. The Chamber of Commerce of Republika Srpska noted that a clear message has been sent to American investors, with expectations of increased interest in the coming period.
“This signals that Republika Srpska is an open market ready to welcome new investments. The fact is that we have already been in discussions with American investors on various topics for several months,” said Chamber President Goran Račić.
The business community agrees that U.S. investments would be beneficial for Republika Srpska, with opportunities across multiple sectors.
“We can offer proximity to European markets and a skilled workforce,” said Saša Trivić, Vice President of the Employers’ Union.
A highly educated workforce is precisely one of Republika Srpska’s key advantages highlighted by Trump Jr. during his visit to Banja Luka. He stressed that Republika Srpska should fully utilize its resources, particularly its energy potential, which can be developed with the support of skilled professionals.
“I see enormous energy potential. All of this can be developed with the help of highly educated experts, without requiring massive financial resources. You have hardworking, educated people and a standard that can be sustained without financial collapse. I believe this is a great opportunity for American companies to come here,” Trump Jr. said.
For experts, this message represents an example of “citizen diplomacy,” presenting Republika Srpska as an attractive investment destination with all the key elements needed to attract foreign investors.
