USA deports Soleimani’s relatives — will Sarajevo remove his images from a school?

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the administration will not allow the United States to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes.

“Until recently, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter held green cards and lived lavishly in the United States. Afshar is the niece of the late Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani. She is also an outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime, celebrated attacks on Americans, and referred to our country as the ‘Great Satan,’” Rubio wrote on X.

Rubio added that this week he revoked the legal status of both Afshar and her daughter, who are now in custody of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement awaiting deportation.

Soleimani was killed in 2020 in Baghdad in a drone strike that the US military says was ordered by then US President Donald Trump during his first term.

As the United States deports relatives of Qasem Soleimani, the question arises whether Sarajevo will remove his images from a school.

A photograph of the Iranian general has been displayed on the wall of the Persian-Bosnian College near Sarajevo, according to media reports following a video published on the school’s official Facebook page.

The secondary school’s building and surrounding land are owned by the Islamic Republic of Iran, while the formal owner of the institution is Iranian national Zarean Mohamed Jafer.

The school has not responded to inquiries regarding the reasons for displaying the photograph, nor has it clarified what educational purpose it serves within the school premises.
