Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović said today that Republika Srpska sees a major opportunity in the different approach of the new US administration when it comes to key development projects.
Cvijanović stated that the changes visible on the political and economic scene are the result of the arrival of new people with a completely different approach.
She emphasized that this approach implies that their presence—specifically in Bosnia and Herzegovina—should be reflected through economic cooperation, increased interest, and a stronger presence of American companies.
Cvijanović noted that Republika Srpska sees this as an opportunity, given that US engagement in Bosnia and Herzegovina over the past 30 years has been different.
“We welcome this. We see a significant opportunity, not only in terms of infrastructure projects—particularly transport infrastructure—but also in energy and everything else that can contribute to the development of Republika Srpska,” Cvijanović said, responding to a question about the interest of US corporations in the construction of the Doboj–Vukosavlje highway.
Cvijanović expressed support for the interest shown by the United States in both Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, noting that the leadership of Republika Srpska is available for such projects.
She added that discussions on this topic are ongoing within Republika Srpska, and that she had the opportunity to address it during several meetings in Washington.
