Classical music lovers in Banja Luka will have the opportunity to enjoy a unique artistic event. On Monday, April 6, starting at 8 p.m., the Grand Stage of the National Theatre of Republika Srpska will host a concert titled “The Four Seasons – Vivaldi: Music in word and image.”
This concert spectacle will bring together top-tier artists, with violinist Jovana Raljić, arriving from Vienna, performing as the soloist, accompanied by the String Orchestra of the National Theatre of Republika Srpska under the baton of conductor Dušan Vera Urošević.
Music that paints nature
The program features one of the most celebrated works of the Baroque era – The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi. The renowned Italian composer was among the pioneers in introducing descriptive and programmatic elements into instrumental music.
Through his concertos, Vivaldi succeeded in evoking vivid images of nature, distinct atmospheres, and moods described in the accompanying sonnets. This ability to “paint” scenes with sound allows listeners, together with the verses, to more easily immerse themselves in the emotions conveyed by the music – from the awakening of spring to the melancholy of winter.
A multimedia experience: the fusion of word and image
The concert’s subtitle, “Music in word and image,” points to its multimedia character. Through spoken word and video projections, the audience will be offered a deeper connection with the programmatic content of the work, creating a powerful synesthetic experience in which poetry comes to life through sound.
This demanding project is realized by an experienced creative team: directed by Dajana Josipović, with text by Ivana Lovrić. The verses and narration will be performed by actor Bojan Kolopić, while Petar Bilbija is responsible for video projections. The producer of the Symphony Orchestra of the National Theatre of Republika Srpska is Katarina Lazić.
This cultural event offers the Banja Luka audience a chance to experience a masterpiece of classical music in a modern and artistically comprehensive way, blending Baroque tradition with contemporary technical solutions.
