Karan: the “Muslim Brotherhood” under the protection of Bosniak authorities

Former Counterintelligence Service officer Ljuban Karan said that the presence of a large number of Islamic extremists is evident in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including members of the “Muslim Brotherhood,” which, he claims, has been under the protection of Bosniak authorities since the war.

Karan stated that the “Muslim Brotherhood” has become a safe haven for Islamic extremists who were very active during the past war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He noted that security services in Bosnia and Herzegovina do not deal with them or treat them as a threat, while officials of Republika Srpska and SNSD President Milorad Dodik, who is well acquainted with the situation, know why they are calling for the “Muslim Brotherhood” to be declared a terrorist organization.

  • They have recognized a certain type of threat, especially in situations of instability, and that instability is continuously fueled from Sarajevo – said Karan, a former JNA counterintelligence officer.

He told SRNA that in Bosnia and Herzegovina the “Muslim Brotherhood” must be recognized as an extremist organization and that someone must address it, particularly in light of developments in the Middle East, when “sleeper cells” are activated and extremist groups receive orders to carry out terrorist actions.

Karan recalled that during the conflicts of the 1990s, Bosnia and Herzegovina saw the presence of extremist Wahhabis, as well as Islamists from various backgrounds—Shiites from Iran and Sunnis from the “Muslim Brotherhood.”
