Radovan Kovačević, spokesperson of Alliance of Independent Social Democrats and a delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said that the international position of Republika Srpska has never been stronger, emphasizing that this is the result of long-term government efforts.
“This did not happen overnight. There was vision, persistence, and quality work. It is the result of the work of Milorad Dodik, Željka Cvijanović, and many others who contributed in this field,” Kovačević said in the program “Drugi ugao.”
He added that the authorities in Republika Srpska have consistently defended its position despite various pressures and challenges.
“We endured personal pressures and were ready to make sacrifices—Dodik above all—in order to preserve Republika Srpska’s position. At the time, the opposition claimed we were causing serious harm. Today, we see results: sanctions lifted, open doors in the White House and the U.S. Congress, and significant meetings at the highest level,” Kovačević stated.
He concluded that the fact Dodik, once under sanctions, is now able to hold high-level meetings in Washington reflects the outcome of sustained political work.
