Karan: Statement by Bosniak leaders targets Republika Srpska and Serb people

Siniša Karan stated at a press conference in Banja Luka that the joint statement by Bosniak political representatives reflects, in his view, a unified stance whenever actions are directed against Republika Srpska and the Serb people.

  • “This is an anti-historical, anti-Dayton, and unitarist statement. It represents a platform of unitarist Bosniak politics and is very dangerous for the future of the Serb people,” Karan said.

He emphasized that, according to his position, the Serb people have historically acted defensively and rejected claims of aggression as an attempt to reinterpret history.

Karan also described the statement as contrary to the Dayton Peace Agreement, arguing that it challenges the constitutional structure that includes Republika Srpska.

  • “This is a direct attack on Republika Srpska,” he said, adding that representatives of both the government and opposition among Serbs would be convened to provide a unified institutional response.

The statement he referred to was signed in Sarajevo and addresses issues of hate speech, Islamophobia, and narratives concerning Bosniaks and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
