Milorad Dodik stated that a joint statement by Bosniak representatives from political, academic, and religious life is unconstitutional and concerning from the perspective of the Serb—and likely Croat—people.
He expressed concern that the declaration on condemning hate speech, Islamophobia, and alleged false narratives about Bosniaks and BiH was organized within the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with participation of leading Bosniak officials.
Dodik said the document was not unexpected and claimed that one of its initiators was Mustafa Cerić.
He argued that the statement invokes the Dayton Peace Agreement while, according to him, failing to respect it in practice. He also rejected claims of aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina and dismissed references to Islamophobia as unfounded.
Dodik announced that SNSD will request talks with coalition partners on the issue and that a broader meeting of political representatives could be convened.
- “This represents destabilization and an attack on the constitutional order,” Dodik said, adding that the document promotes a vision of BiH that is not shared by all constituent peoples.
He further stated that, in his view, concerns should be focused on the position of Serbs, while reiterating that all citizens, including Bosniaks, are welcome in Republika Srpska.
The statement he referred to was signed in Sarajevo and addresses issues of hate speech, Islamophobia, and public narratives about Bosniaks and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
