Dodik: I would not explain to Granas what Serbs gained from Russia and from Germany

Milorad Dodik stated that he would not explain to Alfred Granas what the Serb people have historically received from Russia compared to Germany, emphasizing that both historically and today, the comparison is “incomparably in favor of Russia.”

Dodik said he had long been familiar with Granas, noting that he served as chief of staff to Carlos Westendorp at a time when the High Representative began applying the so-called Bonn powers.

  • “That is why it surprises me that today, as Germany’s ambassador, he speaks in the language of a policy that was legally questionable even then,” Dodik said, responding to an interview in which Granas commented on Russia’s role regarding Republika Srpska.

He added that Westendorp himself had acknowledged that the introduction of such powers was not fully in line with the Dayton Peace Agreement.

Dodik further argued that ambassadors should not interfere in the internal affairs of the host country, accusing Granas of violating international conventions and worsening relations between the Serb and German peoples.

He also stated that sanctions mentioned by the ambassador reflect Germany’s political weakness and reiterated support for Vladimir Putin.

  • “Russia stood by the Serb people in the most difficult historical moments, when others remained silent or bombed us. It defended international law when others tried to override it,” Dodik said.

According to him, this relationship is based on historical memory, respect, and mutual understanding, not on pressure or coercion.

Dodik added that Republika Srpska respects German investments, but argued that broader cooperation with Russia could have ensured cheaper gas and stronger economic development for the region.

He also criticized Germany’s current policy toward Russia, claiming it has negatively impacted its own economy and citizens.

In conclusion, Dodik stated support for Donald Trump and Israel, while questioning the position of the German ambassador.

He called on foreign actors to refrain from interfering in institutions such as the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, asserting that such actions are not within their mandate.
