The humanitarian auction “Art Someone Needs” will gather art lovers for the fourth time, giving them an opportunity to support the work of the public kitchen Obrok ljubavi.

This unique event will take place on April 9 in the foyer of the Obilićevo Sports Hall in Banja Luka, with organizers announcing several entertaining changes that will further enrich the event.

According to Ana Stanarević, a member of the organizing team, preparations are already well underway.

“It already seems likely that we will break previous records in terms of both the number of participants and the number of artworks. We are ready for that because we are preparing very interesting changes to the concept of the auction itself. We believe we will surpass previous figures not only in participation but also in the amount raised, especially since supporting the public kitchen is now more important than ever after it lost its premises,” she said.

Organizers reminded the public that Obrok ljubavi is currently facing the loss of the premises where it previously operated, which has prompted a donation campaign aimed at securing a new location and moving the kitchen into a more permanent home. For that reason, this year’s auction carries additional significance.

According to Nikola Rodić, the hope is that the initiative will gather even more people of goodwill and receive stronger support from domestic companies.

“Companies have the opportunity to donate funds for an extremely important cause and in return select one of the outstanding artworks provided by established local artists and talented young creators. We are pleased that Tropik and Moj Market will once again sponsor the auction, with support also coming again from the brand Manja and Banjalučka pivara, although we hope this is only the beginning,” he said.

He invited both small and large companies to contact the organizers through their Facebook or Instagram pages.

The humanitarian auction “Art Someone Needs” was first organized in 2023. During the previous three editions it gathered more than 80 artists and collectives, while more than 400 artworks and items were sold. Thanks to the support of participants and donors, a total of 25,921 KM has been raised so far for the public kitchen.

Last year’s edition also attracted significant interest, with more than 60 creators participating, once again demonstrating the strong support of the artistic community for this humanitarian initiative.

Name of the event

According to the organizers, when the event was first organized under the name “Art Nobody Needs”, the idea was to sell artworks and objects with minor imperfections or those that had lost their original purpose.

However, many artists offered perfectly preserved and valuable works in order to contribute even more to the shared goal, which naturally led to the name being changed to “Art Someone Needs.”
