Milorad Dodik today congratulated the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, on National Day, marked on March 15 to commemorate the beginning of the 1848 revolution for Hungary’s liberation from Habsburg rule.
Dodik emphasized that the significance of the revolution is even greater given that the Hungarian people stood for their freedom against a much stronger and more numerous opponent.
“History repeats itself. As the years pass, we are witnessing that we celebrate important holidays in increasingly complex circumstances. Wars, crises, and security threats have become the new face of Europe and the European Union,” Dodik stated in his message.
He added that the Serb people and the institutions of Republika Srpska view Hungary under Orbán’s leadership as the last island of peace, Christian freedoms, reason, and leadership strength and courage.
“In that regard, dear friend, I sincerely hope that in a month I will have the pleasure of congratulating you on your electoral victory as well,” Dodik said.
He stressed that the upcoming elections in Hungary, scheduled for April 12, are historic and go beyond ordinary parliamentary elections.
“I firmly believe that in April, it is precisely in Hungary that the future of the EU, of Europe as a whole, and especially of the region to which Republika Srpska belongs, will be determined. We rely on the wisdom of the Hungarian people and the resilience of your party against attacks,” Dodik noted.
Dodik expressed confidence that the Hungarian people will once again elect a patriotic government led by Orbán and Fidesz, adding that Serbs with voting rights in Hungary will also vote in the same way.
