Blagojevich: Erasing Orthodox cultural heritage in the Federation of BiH concerns the entire Christian world

Former Rod Blagojevich said that the seizure of property and the erasure of Orthodox cultural heritage in Bosnia and Herzegovina is taking place quietly and daily, and that it should concern the entire Christian world.

“Under a new law, Muslim authorities registered a Serb Orthodox cemetery as municipal land, while monastery property has been put up for sale. This is not an isolated case. Similar seizures have been reported at Serbian cemeteries and private plots near Mostar,” Blagojevich said in a video message posted on X.

He added that authorities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its cantons are also registering Orthodox churches and shrines as state property.

“Serb Orthodox cemeteries are being renamed ‘Bosnian Orthodox cemeteries.’ The intention is clear—just as the Turks in Istanbul converted the Christian temple Hagia Sophia into a mosque, Muslim officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina want to undermine Christian holy sites,” Blagojevich said.

He noted that a similar law on religious property in Montenegro previously triggered mass protests among Christians.

Blagojevich said the government of Republika Srpska has already taken steps to protect Serbian heritage and property in Bosnia and Herzegovina through special legal regulations, targeted budget allocations, and direct cooperation with the population.

He also stated that more than 13,000 Serbs have sought legal assistance after their property was allegedly taken illegally and without their consent.

“The silence ends here. Property will be returned. Faith will be defended,” Blagojevich said, calling on Christians worldwide to spread the story and follow developments.
