Peleg for RTRS: Israel is gradually achieving its goals, support from Republika Srpska is important

The war in the Middle East continues to escalate, with consequences already visible in the global economy, oil price movements, and the energy stability of the region. According to Galit Peleg, the duration of the operation depends on several factors, but the core issue remains the threat coming from Tehran as Iran moved closer to developing nuclear weapons.

“The primary objectives were to remove the existential threat to Israel and to destroy Iran’s ballistic capabilities. Alongside these goals, there is also a potential benefit for the Iranian people—to free themselves from this terrible regime,” Peleg said.

She added that several days into the campaign, there is close cooperation between Israel and the United States in striking military targets, destroying the regime’s arsenals, and eliminating senior leadership figures.

According to Peleg, Israel is gradually achieving its objectives.

“The operation is not finished yet, but we can already see that the number of rockets launched toward Israel is decreasing. We must continue our actions in order to fully accomplish the mission,” she said.

Peleg emphasized that the threat from Iran has two dimensions for Europe. The first concerns the range of ballistic missiles.

“According to their plans, they aim to develop missiles capable of reaching London and even further. At this moment, I do not believe they can reach central Europe, but we have seen attacks against Turkey and European Union member Cyprus. This shows they have little hesitation in targeting other countries, even those that consider themselves friends of Iran,” she explained.

The second dimension, she said, is terrorism, pointing to Iran’s long-standing support for groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas.

Peleg also supported remarks made by the Israeli ambassador in Croatia, who recently called for reconsideration of diplomatic relations with Iran due to security risks.

At the same time, she emphasized that Israel appreciates the support coming from Republika Srpska and its political leadership.

“We hear voices from Banja Luka supporting Israel—not only during this conflict but for a long time. We truly appreciate that. Just weeks ago Milorad Dodik visited Israel and met with Benjamin Netanyahu, who expressed gratitude on behalf of the Israeli people and government,” Peleg said.

She noted that many Israelis are currently spending time in shelters due to rocket attacks from Iran and from Lebanon.

“In such circumstances, the support we receive from Republika Srpska and other countries gives additional strength to both the government and the public,” Peleg said.

She added that while support also comes from Croatian political representatives in Bosnia and Herzegovina, messages from Sarajevo sometimes express sympathy toward Iran.

“We all support the Iranian people, but it is difficult to understand how anyone who believes in freedom could support the Iranian regime. That is why we would like to hear more voices like those from Republika Srpska, supporting Israel, the United States, and others who advocate for the freedom of the Iranian people,” Peleg concluded.
