President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić said that the administration of Donald Trump is very interested in protecting Christian values, which he described as good news for Republika Srpska.
Speaking on Radio Television of Serbia, Vučić added that Serbia pursues a policy of peace and stability in the region while preserving its own freedom and security.
“The policy of Serbia is peace and stability and the protection of our own freedom. We have no greater priority than that. We will not attack anyone, but we will not give our territory, our country, or our freedom to anyone. Belgrade will always decide how the Serbian army functions, not Zagreb, not Sarajevo, not Tirana, nor anyone else,” Vučić said.
Speaking about relations with the United States, Vučić said he believes they are gradually improving and that there are almost daily contacts with the American administration at different levels.
“The policy of ‘peace through strength,’ advocated by Trump, aims to prevent conflicts with other major powers, primarily China. We work more than we talk, and I am satisfied with relations with the Americans. I believe those relations will be even better in the coming period,” Vučić added.
He also referred to the situation of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, stating that many Serbs, teachers, and professors could be affected by the implementation of the so-called law on foreigners that authorities in Pristina plan to introduce from March 15.
Vučić announced that he would visit and speak with the Serb population there and said that the poorest Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija would receive one-time financial assistance.
He called on Serbs to remain in their homes and warned that a “Pandora’s box” has been opened in Kosovo and Metohija.
Regarding relations between Serbia and Russia, Vučić said he understands Russian partners and emphasized that Serbia has contributed greatly to its friendship with Russia.
“My job is to love Serbia, and there is nothing in the world I will love more than Serbia,” Vučić said.
He also noted that he spoke with Vladimir Putin about allegations concerning Serbian arms exports and told him that the document shown to him, listing what Serbia allegedly exports, had not been obtained by Russian services but had been delivered by what he described as “Serbian traitors.”
