Tršić Babić at the Balkan Forum: OHR and Christian Schmidt are the cause of political problems in BiH

Former acting president of Republika Srpska Ana Tršić Babić said at the Balkan Forum in Budapest that the Office of the High Representative and Christian Schmidt are the cause of political problems in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Tršić Babić participated in a panel discussion titled “Building a Stable and Secure Region through Strategic Connectivity.”

“Regarding the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it would be irresponsible for me to say that security is threatened. We have political problems and challenges. Some media headlines exaggerate the issue of security threats,” Tršić Babić said.

She emphasized that the security system within Bosnia and Herzegovina is functioning well.

“There are only political problems. The political situation is different from the security situation. The cause of all political problems are the Office of the High Representative and Christian Schmidt, who came without a decision of the United Nations Security Council,” she said.

Tršić Babić added that Schmidt had created the biggest crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

“I ask whether it is normal to be on the border of the European Union, to be a candidate for EU membership, and to have a foreigner ‘governing’ Bosnia and Herzegovina,” she emphasized.

She also spoke about infrastructure and energy projects.

“Due to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Belgrade–Sarajevo highway has not been realized, and the only gas we currently have comes from Russia. There are also delays in gas projects because of the Federation,” she stated.

Serb delegate to the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Radovan Kovačević is also participating in the Balkan Forum, where he will speak on the topic “Family, Migration and Paths to a Resilient Future.”
