Republika Srpska recognizes seriousness of situation – protective measures taken

Authorities in Republika Srpska have taken preventive security measures following the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, amid reports of intensified Israeli air operations against Iran.

During the 26th wave of air operations against Iran, around fifty aircraft of the Israel Defense Forces reportedly struck underground facilities in Tehran, including a bunker believed to be connected to the country’s supreme leadership, as well as an underground drone storage site and a hidden drone factory.

According to Daniel Shimon Yakov, several individuals suspected of preparing terrorist attacks were arrested overnight by Israeli forces. He stated that the latest wave of air operations was the most intense so far.

He added that Iranian projectiles allegedly used cluster-type payloads that disperse multiple submunitions over wide areas. Although no casualties were reported, minor material damage and fires were recorded.

Following these developments, the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska has increased preventive security measures. Interior Minister Željko Budimir said that authorities are taking all necessary steps to protect facilities that could potentially become targets of terrorist attacks.

“Certain hidden radicalized cells and elements may exist that could be activated at a given moment. That is why we are leaving nothing to chance and are taking all measures within the jurisdiction of public security to prevent such scenarios,” Budimir said.

Predrag Ćeranić noted that some risks cannot be completely prevented but added that there are no strategic targets in Republika Srpska that would be of interest to the Iranian military.

Meanwhile, several European countries have taken precautionary measures amid fears that tensions in the Middle East could spill over into Europe. In London, four men were arrested on suspicion of spying on Jewish communities, while naval forces from France, Netherlands, Spain and Italy have reportedly been deployed near Cyprus to protect military bases.

Security experts also warn that the potential involvement of Kurdish forces could further complicate the conflict. Analysts say that any ground invasion of Iran would be extremely difficult due to the country’s mountainous terrain and complex geography.

Experts conclude that the situation surrounding Iran has moved beyond a regional conflict and has taken on a global dimension, with major world powers increasingly involved in shaping the emerging balance of power in a new multipolar world.
