The Western Balkans need many things — stability, development, investment, open borders for goods and people — but they certainly do not need new military alliances like that of Croatia, Albania and the so-called Kosovo, wrote Milorad Dodik, president of SNSD.
“The question is simple: What is the purpose of this alliance, what is its real goal, and whom is it supposed to protect? Or is it perhaps intended to threaten Serbs and send us a political message? The region needs bridges, not blocs. Promoting and pandering to a revived Ustasha ideology and initiatives that introduce additional divisions return us to a time that seeks hostility toward Serbs,” Dodik wrote on X.
He stressed that Republika Srpska remains committed to stability and cooperation, but will not turn a blind eye to moves that could undermine the fragile balance in the Balkans.
“For Bosnia and Herzegovina, such an alliance is particularly dangerous, as it leads to further destabilization and divisions, since every people will be forced to take sides,” Dodik said.
