SNSD leader Milorad Dodik announced that he will propose to the National Assembly of Republika Srpska that all powers granted to Srpska by the Dayton Agreement be returned, and that this will be a condition for any talks.
“The people of Republika Srpska have once again shown that they stand as a bulwark of freedom and independence. Politics can be defined in many ways. Political ‘waste’ is concentrated in Sarajevo, which believed it could deal with Srpska and thought we would give in. They thought we would capitulate and say we have had enough. We have not had enough. Republika Srpska is too little for us—we want more of it,” Dodik said at a press conference in Banja Luka.
He stressed that the SNSD leadership will very soon propose to the National Assembly that the powers taken from Republika Srpska under the Dayton Peace Agreement be returned.
“That means restoring the army and the border police, abolishing the Court and Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and returning the fiscal system to the jurisdiction of Republika Srpska. We will not give up on this. We need only what was envisaged by Dayton,” Dodik said.
He added that he does not believe Bosnia and Herzegovina can be repaired.
Dodik emphasized that politics has never been a matter of daily reflex.
“It only makes sense if it is realistic and oriented toward the future. There is no freedom or survival for Republika Srpska if we remain in this morbid structure of Bosnia and Herzegovina that has placed a noose around the Serb people. Bosnia and Herzegovina is irreparably broken. They have encroached on every form of our sovereignty,” Dodik said.
