“Višegrad trail” on June 5 and 6 – rich program in honor of Ivo Andrić

The cultural event “Višegrad trail,” dedicated to Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić, will be held on June 5 and 6, it was agreed today at a meeting between the Mayor of Višegrad, Mladen Đurević, and the Director of the “Ivo Andrić” Cultural Center, Jelena Đurić.

At the meeting, it was emphasized that a rich and diverse program is planned again this year, bringing together prominent artists and scholars, while further promoting the cultural and tourist potential of Višegrad.

As part of the event, brother and sister Bojana and Nikola Peković will perform with gusle and accordion, while participants will also include distinguished PhDs from Herceg Novi, who will speak about the life, work, and significance of Ivo Andrić.

Mayor Mladen Đurević stressed that “Višegrad trail” represents one of the most important cultural events in the municipality and that this traditional manifestation places Višegrad on the map of significant cultural destinations.

“This is an event that preserves the memory of our Nobel laureate. The municipality will continue to provide strong support to culture and young talents,” Đurević said.

Đurević also praised the work of the music room at the “Ivo Andrić” Cultural Center, where students demonstrated remarkable knowledge, talent, and dedication, emphasizing that investment in young people and their education is one of the priorities of the local community, alongside investment in culture.

The Director of the Cultural Center, Jelena Đurić, thanked the Municipality of Višegrad and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska for their continuous support, noting that the second phase of the renovation of the Ivo Andrić Memorial Classroom is underway, which represents an important segment of the city’s cultural and tourist offer.

She stated that plans include replacing the flooring, creating a new website, acquiring modern technical equipment, and installing new lighting, and that the Memorial Classroom will host part of the “Višegrad trail” program.

Since 1976, the “Višegrad trail” event has brought together cultural creators, scholars, and lovers of literature, nurturing the memory of Ivo Andrić and his work, which has permanently marked Serb and world literature.
