Dodik: My meeting with Netanyahu was one of the best I have had in recent decades

The meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was one of the best meetings I have participated in over the past decades, said Milorad Dodik, leader of SNSD, during his visit to Israel.

He emphasized that the meeting was marked by full mutual understanding.

“This was a meeting of full understanding. It was a meeting in which our position was understood, the position of Israel and the Jewish people was understood, as well as their understanding of our position, which is very complex,” Dodik stressed.

Dodik warned that in recent times, through the dismantling of the Dayton Peace Agreement, the position of Republika Srpska has become extremely endangered.

“This was an opportunity to talk about possible forms of cooperation. We emphasized that they should help us return to the letter of Dayton, to restore our army, finances, courts, intelligence services, and everything that belonged to us under the Dayton Agreement. We can no longer tolerate what is happening in the courts. With my own case, I tried to draw attention to this, but our people must understand that they have no intention of stopping. We have a man who was sentenced to three years in prison for showing three fingers. That means we have nothing to look for there,” Dodik said.

He added that the message from the Israeli Prime Minister was very clear.

“Netanyahu told us that we are great and lasting friends. We are in a situation where those who are our enemies are also enemies of Israel,” Dodik emphasized.

Dodik also said that they held talks with Zeev Elkin, a Knesset member from the New Hope party and Minister of National Projects in the Israeli Ministry of Finance.

“We discussed having their experts come to assess all the possibilities that Republika Srpska has,” Dodik noted.

Commenting on relations with the European Union, Dodik said that the current framework within Bosnia and Herzegovina is destructive for Republika Srpska.

“What we have within Bosnia and Herzegovina is burying us and eliminating us completely, and we must stop European integrations until we resolve our status. In any case, through these platforms we are looking for friends here, we will look for them in a few days in Budapest, we will look for them in America, everywhere we believe our voice can be heard. We are an economy which, if you listen to certain opposition figures, is supposedly a complete collapse, but when we say we have a deficit of 0.4 percent and public debt of 32 percent, that causes positive astonishment here,” Dodik concluded.

During the day, Acting President of Republika Srpska Ana Trivišić Babić and Milorad Dodik visited the grave of Ari Livne in Jerusalem.

As a reminder, Dodik and Trivišić Babić also met today in Israel with Knesset member Zeev Elkin from the New Hope party.

The delegation of Republika Srpska also includes Radovan Kovačević, Serb delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
