Grants awarded for literary creation

The Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska has published the results of the Public Call for awarding grants to authors in the field of literary creation, aimed at supporting the development and advancement of the literary scene in Republika Srpska.

A total of KM 44,000 was awarded to 13 authors, and the full results of the call are available on the Ministry’s official website.

“The purpose of this Public Call is to support the development and promotion of literary creativity in Republika Srpska, encourage contemporary literary production, and affirm domestic authors,” the Ministry stated.

The Public Call covered grants for the best literary achievements in 2023, 2024, and 2025, as well as support for writing new literary works and for literary translation.

Based on the prescribed criteria, the expert commission proposed grants of KM 4,000 each for outstanding literary works. The recipients are Sanja Savić Milosavljević for the novel Martin’s Share, Tanja Stupar Trifunović for the novel Along the Sharp Edge Flies a Bird, Slobodan Jović for the poetry collection In Sackcloth, Jelena Kalajdžija for the children’s book The Paper Clip, Six Seeds and a Feather, and Ivana Spahić for the novel Dawn.

Grants of KM 3,000 for writing new literary works were awarded to Ranko Pavlović for the short story collection The Sudden Death of the Former Owner of the Palace Hotel, Milanka Blagojević for You Are Alone, Mihajlo Orlović for the novel Life in Pictures, Radana Lukajić for the novel St. Michael’s Day Blues, Fedor Marjanović for Hamlet in a State School, and Jovo Čulić for the children’s poetry collection The Absent-Minded Pirate.

Grants for literary translation, also in the amount of KM 3,000, were awarded to Zoran Kostić for the translation of Anthology of Russian Poetry, 10th–21st Century (Volume II), and Anja Pravuљac for the translation of The Lottery and Other Stories by American writer Shirley Jackson.

“The Ministry will continue to systematically support literary creation, affirm domestic authors, and encourage the development of contemporary literary production in Republika Srpska.”
