Minić on the Constitutional Court ruling: Nothing is accidental anymore when it comes to attacks on Srpska’s institutions

The Prime Minister of Republika Srpska, Savo Minić, commented on the decision of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina declaring the previous composition of the Government unconstitutional, stating that nothing is accidental anymore when it comes to attacks on the institutions of Republika Srpska.

  • “This has become predictable. You’ve seen what the Central Election Commission is doing and who it is made up of in terms of political affiliation. The simplest elections could not be counted on time; we have repeat elections only where Karan won. Now different polling boards will be sent to Zvornik—this has never happened before. And once these elections are over, let me tell you right away: they will not be completed within the deadlines they announced, because they need prolonged agony and pressure on all institutions of Republika Srpska,” Minić said.

He added that what is happening with the president is also part of a scheme that started with an illegally appointed High Representative.

  • “What is happening is a scheme that began with an illegally appointed High Representative, continued through the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and is now being finalized by the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina—whose mandate has expired, whose mandate was extended by an illegal High Representative, in which there are no Serb judges, which changes its Rules of Procedure at will, while we are the only ones adhering to the law. I honestly fear that this will provoke a forced reaction from Republika Srpska, showing that, regardless of the declarative decisions we have had so far, we must have a real response to protect ourselves,” Minić emphasized.

He stressed that Republika Srpska has no problem with anyone and noted that no one has thought of attacking the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which required suspending the Constitution in order to be formed.

  • “We have no problem with anyone. It never crossed our minds to attack the Government of the Federation, which had to suspend the Constitution to be elected. Toward them, both the Court and the High Representative are servile. That tells us we have two sides here, and then someone forces us to say we are one side and that we live together. We do not live together, and we do not have a relationship like people who live together,” Minić said.

He recalled that every time—both when he became prime minister and when he served as minister of agriculture—he extended a hand to citizens and politicians in the Federation.

  • “Every time I say I want to cooperate with you; you do not want to, and every time you create intrigues. They are bothered by our holiday, the day we celebrate, everything bothers them. We are not interested in that—let them celebrate their holidays a hundred days and a hundred dates. I will sign, on behalf of the Government and Republika Srpska, that nothing bothers us and that they be well and healthy. We must start living normally, or there will be a forced reaction,” Minić concluded.
