Trivić Babić: Srpska recognized as a factor on the international stage

Republika Srpska is today a recognized factor on the international stage. Thanks to a policy of continuity, it responds institutionally to all attacks, including orchestrated strikes from political Sarajevo with the influence of foreign meddlers. The newly elected Government will act the same way, said Acting President of Republika Srpska Ana Trivić Babić in the show Drugi ugao.

She emphasized that the artificial creation of a crisis has been prevented, and that the leadership of Srpska remains on constant alert.

“I expect the new Government of Republika Srpska, elected last night, to continue as it began, with the old-new Prime Minister, Savo Minić,” Trivić Babić said.

“Minić presented truly ambitious plans and goals in his exposé, which the new Government has set, and I am confident they will be achieved,” she added.

Speaking about the challenges facing Srpska and the Government, she stressed that the most important thing is to preserve and protect Republika Srpska.

“That is something for which we are constantly vigilant, our senses are sharpened, and the moment we feel even the slightest possibility that Republika Srpska could be threatened, our institutions react. That is how we reacted this time as well, when our senses told us we were once again threatened from Sarajevo. With the calls for snap elections and earlier with court proceedings, that plan from Sarajevo, coordinated with foreign administration, was more than clear, and we decided once again to demonstrate institutional strength and confirm the old-new Government, which will preempt any attempt from Sarajevo, led by the foreign administration there, to endanger Republika Srpska,” she said.

She noted that Republika Srpska is a recognized factor on the international stage.

“Relations with the United States and other partners of Republika Srpska did not come overnight. We worked on them for a long time, despite all attempts by Sarajevo to prevent Republika Srpska from becoming a recognized international factor. Regardless of its territory or population size, nothing vital in this region can be decided without Republika Srpska,” Trivić Babić said.

She added that over the years Republika Srpska has closely followed developments in the region and, despite constant obstacles from Sarajevo, remained consistent with its policies and goals.

“In that we succeeded, because Republika Srpska has never had a better position in international relations than it has now,” she said.

She stated that relations with the United States changed after Donald Trump’s victory.

“The sharp edge toward Republika Srpska has been blunted. We want to be partners with the United States and to build that partnership. To that end, we have launched activities both economically and politically,” she said.

Regarding the lifting of sanctions against officials and companies from Srpska, Trivić Babić said that a major injustice had been corrected.

“First, the injustice of those sanctions was corrected, and with their removal, contacts reopened and began to be reestablished with concrete partnership proposals on how to cooperate further, especially economically,” she said.

She stressed that the greatest strength of Republika Srpska lies in its consistency.

“Republika Srpska nurtures family values, the will of the people, and institutional stability, and respects partners who nurture the same values. Our policy did not begin yesterday; it has lasted for a long time and is now recognized at a moment when such sovereigntist policies are increasingly valued and respected worldwide,” she said.

She added that precisely because of its consistency and perseverance in policy, Republika Srpska can endure.

Commenting on opposition claims that Srpska has abruptly changed course toward destabilization, Trivić Babić said this is not a crisis government and that there was no government crisis before.

“Republika Srpska and all its governments and institutions have only responded and sought ways to defend themselves from all these attacks and attempts to erase Republika Srpska. There has been no policy shift. We have remained fully consistent with the policy we pursued one, two, or three years ago. The difference is that now our policy is recognized and Republika Srpska is recognized as a partner with its own policy,” she said.

She added that this was a way to institutionally preempt any crisis that Sarajevo constantly tries to impose on Banja Luka.

“Citizens of Republika Srpska should know this: Sarajevo’s policy has never been to merely shake the Government to create a crisis. Their plan is for Republika Srpska not to exist. These are all methods carried out through Sarajevo courtrooms to eliminate Republika Srpska. Republika Srpska, its institutions, and everything done so far have been responses and our defense of the rights of Republika Srpska guaranteed by the Dayton Agreement,” she said.

She concluded that she does not believe there will be any change in Sarajevo’s attitude toward Republika Srpska.

“What matters to us is to protect Republika Srpska. We see that change from Sarajevo will not come. They cannot and do not hide it. Remember the words of former reis Mustafa Cerić, who openly said that Republika Srpska should cease to exist. That is their plan. It will not change; they are just looking for ways to make life more difficult for us. Our institutions resist this, and citizens do not feel it because they have institutions that respond in a timely and proper manner to such attempts from Sarajevo,” she said.
