Russia’s Smotrim television network devoted coverage to Republika Srpska Day, which was marked yesterday in Banja Luka.
“Republika Srpska will not give up its sovereignty in order to join the European Union, which is nearing its end,” SNSD leader Milorad Dodik said yesterday in a statement to the channel.
As a reminder, Republika Srpska is celebrating its 34th anniversary. A ceremonial parade was held yesterday at Krajina Square in Banja Luka as the central event of the Republika Srpska Day celebrations, organized under the slogan “Živjeće ognjište” (“The hearth will live on”). The parade honored the memory of heroes and celebrated life, freedom, and continuity. More than 2,700 members of the Ministry of the Interior and representatives of the public and civil sectors took part. The event concluded with a spectacular flyover by three helicopters of the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior’s Aviation Unit.
The observance continues today in Brčko, where wreaths will be laid at the monument to Serb defenders of Brčko, followed by a ceremonial academy. Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić will attend the Republika Srpska Day events in Brčko.
