Dodik: A clash of civilizations is underway in BiH

I believe the new U.S. administration will say: this is the framework—resolve it internally, and we will not allow you to go to war; anyone who tries will become our target, said SNSD President Milorad Dodik.

He explained that the fairest solution—if Bosnia and Herzegovina is to survive at all—would be the existence of three separate entities, or republics, linked within a structure yet to be agreed upon. Dodik added that he has no problem with the political stance of the Croats in BiH and stressed that, within the Federation, they need a space covered by the power utility of the Croat Community of Herceg-Bosna.

He noted that while he does not agree with all of Max Primorac’s positions, he nevertheless appealed for him to continue this approach toward BiH, saying there is no other opportunity.

“The Muslim political strategy is to detain, eliminate, and destroy Dodik and Čović, cut off Primorac, and strike the strongest figures among the Serbs and Croats so they fall silent,” Dodik said in a wide-ranging interview with Kompas, the RTV of Herceg-Bosna.

He stated that political Sarajevo has never been ready for talks on anything.

“I hear around their ‘sećija’ that they say: we’ll wait two or three years, Trump will leave, maybe we’ll even hear he’s fallen ill so he won’t last that long, and then we’ll continue our agenda against the Croats and Serbs,” Dodik added.

He stressed that a clash of civilizations is underway in BiH.

“Muslims want BiH only for themselves—a country in which, if any Christians remain, they would be an amorphous minority without any rights,” Dodik said, adding that Bosniaks can never achieve what they want, namely that all of BiH belongs to them.

He said BiH is a broken country with no prospects, where everyone is trapped in an inability to make progress.

“And we have a situation where no one is satisfied with BiH,” Dodik emphasized.

He explained that BiH does not belong only to Bosniaks, as they believe, and that such a concept is impossible.

Dodik noted that no one is satisfied with the current BiH except foreigners.

“They are satisfied because it gives them something to do and allows them to keep their well-paid jobs. Schmidt has a salary of €24,000, plus allowances for separate living and free travel home—around €41,000 per month—so he provoked the disorder,” Dodik said.

He added that the new U.S. administration is not prepared to enter into conflict with the British and Germans over BiH, as they defend Schmidt and the Bonn powers, and that Schmidt is exploiting this.

Dodik stressed that there has never been a serious idea to preserve BiH as a country of two entities and three peoples.

“Through elections, the fundamental postulate—the constituent peoples—is ignored. Constituent status is even more important than the entities. Bosniak votes elect the Croat member of the Presidency, which leads to frustration. That is the theft of sovereignty from the Croat people,” Dodik said.

He said he understands the position of the Croat people and of Dragan Čović, because he knows who they are dealing with at the Federation level.

“I have spent days sitting with Čović, and credit to him for the patience to talk. Our alliance was never about doing something against Bosniaks, but they never wanted to agree to one simple thing—the right of Croats to choose their own representatives,” Dodik said.

He added that he sees no one in political Sarajevo who respects Croat interests, nor does he believe such a person can emerge now.

Dodik concluded that BiH will one day collapse when Serbs and Croats stop working within it.

“That moment is inevitably approaching,” Dodik said.
