A promotion of a comic magazine and an exhibition of comic panels created by students of the Comic School was held this evening at the “Sreten Stojanović” Gallery in Prijedor.
The exhibition features works by 11 students of the Comic School organized by the Prijedor City Development Agency “Preda,” with the support of the city authorities.
Preda representative Bojan Jojić told reporters that this is one of the activities the agency carries out throughout the year.
“We created a synergy by engaging the comic enthusiasts’ association ‘The Ninth Dimension’ from Banja Luka, who were our main partners and lecturers, passing on their knowledge to the children,” Jojić said.
He added that the exhibited works were created using different techniques and covered a variety of themes.
Lecturer Zdravko Knežević from Prnjavor has been a member of “The Ninth Dimension” since its founding and is responsible for identifying young talents across Republika Srpska.
Knežević said that in February and March this year they held a workshop totaling around 30 classes, attended by ten young, talented participants who wanted to draw their first comic.
He added that a magazine was also produced, publishing the results of their work.
All the works were reviewed by Milorad Vicanović Maza from Laktaši, the only active comic artist from the region currently working internationally. He attended the exhibition to support young artists and everyone who loves comics, whether as readers or creators.
“The influence of their lecturer is clearly recognizable—he introduced applicable comic standards. I believe many of these young people have a promising future ahead of them,” Vicanović said.
The Comic School training organized by the city development agency “Preda” is a classic educational program within the creative industries sector.
