Wiena Handball Cup: Bijeljina team finishes fourth

The young handball players from Bijeljina (U-15) finished fourth at the tournament held in Vienna for boys aged 13 to 15, after losing the match for third place to Dinamo 23:14.

The competition was organized through a joint initiative of the Representation of Republika Srpska in Vienna, with strong support from the head of the Representation, Mladen Filipović, as well as handball officials from Bijeljina: Obren Miljković, Bogdan Rankić and Zoran Perić.

The boys from Semberija opened the tournament well, securing two victories in the group stage.

They first defeated Dinamo from Pančevo 22:17, and then beat the Vienna team West Wien 20:16.

In the semifinals, they lost to Borba 15:11, playing that match without their injured captain Veljko Tubić, which significantly affected the final outcome.

First place in this category went to the team Dubrava, whose players were better than Borba with a score of 17:11.

The Bijeljina squad consisted of: Nikolaj Nešković, Igor Aščerić, Veljko Tubić, Dimitrije Marković, Pavle Krstić, Lazar Kalas, Matija Jeftić, Andrej Jeftić, Aleksa Miljanović, Nikola Ristić, Danilo Blagovčanin, Viktor Miljković, Matija Dakić, Sergej Malešević and Peđa Manojlović.

Teams from Republika Srpska, Serbia, Hungary, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the tournament.

The matches and officiating were overseen by Aleksandar Vrhovac, Competition Coordinator of the Handball Federation of Republika Srpska, and Vladimir Knežić, Director of Serbia’s Arkus League.
