EU membership is the best guarantee of stability and prosperity for Bosnia and Herzegovina, said Luigi Soreca, Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH.
Soreca stressed that only a few steps remain for BiH to advance on its EU path.
“An HJPC Law and a Law on Courts that comply with EU standards. A chief negotiator and a team capable of leading negotiations and representing the country with one voice,” Soreca wrote on his X account.
He noted that, unfortunately, the Council of Ministers of BiH failed today to make progress on meeting these requirements.
“Public opinion surveys show that a majority of citizens across the country want a European future. The EU has stated at the highest level that BiH belongs in the EU. The missing element is political will. We urge political actors to focus on fulfilling the remaining steps,” Soreca said.
He emphasised that this opportunity for progress on the EU path must not be missed.
