Trišić Babić meets with Fleming and Ginkel: Republika Srpska’s interest is stable, respectful relations with the United States

Acting President of Republika Srpska Ana Trišić Babić met yesterday in East Sarajevo with Mark Fleming, Director for Western and Central Europe at the U.S. State Department, and John Ginkel, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo.

The meeting highlighted that Republika Srpska and the United States have a realistic basis for deepening political, economic and institutional ties, especially in the areas of energy, higher education, digital technologies and investments in local communities.

Trišić Babić stressed that it is in the interest of Republika Srpska that relations with the United States—one of the key global actors—remain stable, predictable and grounded in mutual respect and an understanding of realities on the ground.

She underlined that Republika Srpska remains committed to cooperation that delivers concrete benefits for citizens and is open to all initiatives that support economic development, investment and new jobs.

It was emphasized that Republika Srpska sees opportunities to strengthen partnerships in the economy and education, particularly through projects connecting American investors with local communities.

During the discussion, it was clearly reiterated that Republika Srpska believes strong and stable ties with the United States can be one of the pillars of long-term stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina—exclusively within the framework of the Constitution, the Dayton Agreement and the equality of the three constituent peoples.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue dialogue and cooperation on issues of common interest, with Republika Srpska reaffirming its dedication to stability, partnership and development while fully preserving the constitutional competencies granted by the Dayton Agreement.

Nemanja Kovačević, Assistant Minister for International Cooperation in the Ministry of European Integration and International Cooperation of Republika Srpska, also attended the meeting.

Fleming later wrote on X that he had a productive meeting with Acting President Trišić Babić.
