Dodik after meeting with Orbán: A good, friendly, and trust-filled discussion

SNSD leader Milorad Dodik said that his meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was successful and productive, adding that such high-quality discussions have become customary in Budapest.

“A very successful and good meeting, the kind we are used to here in Budapest with Prime Minister Orbán and his team. We discussed our mutual cooperation and reaffirmed the highest level of our partnership,” Dodik said.

He noted that at the strategic level they reviewed a number of ongoing economic projects already known to the public.

“We also discussed possible political developments. It is always impressive to hear Orbán and his assessments regarding the potential end of the war in Ukraine, developments within the European Union, and preparations underway for their upcoming elections in April,” Dodik added.

According to him, the delegation informed Orbán about the current situation in Republika Srpska.

“We briefed him on the elections held on the basis of an obviously unconstitutional decision and on a process that was essentially a campaign aimed at placing Srpska into disintegration and destabilization. We managed to secure elections for ourselves in which Siniša Karan won, and we expressed our gratitude to Orbán for being the first to send congratulations,” Dodik said.

He also commented on the fact that the Republika Srpska delegation came in a formation noted even by Orbán.

“This was a special opportunity to be here together, and Orbán himself recognized that. We told him this was our gift to him, because situations like this are rare — the three of us who have performed, are performing, or will perform the duties of president gathered together. It shows that we are a team that will continue to work jointly,” Dodik said.

He emphasized that developments in Republika Srpska reflect continuity — political and institutional — especially continuity of strong cooperation with Hungary.

“We are grateful to Hungary for all its attention. We discussed new projects and new political assessments. This was an exceptionally good meeting — friendly and full of trust,” Dodik concluded.

Reception dedicated to cooperation with Hungary

Dodik announced that a reception will be held in Budapest this evening to honor the strong partnership between Republika Srpska and Hungary.

“Present will be ministers from the Hungarian government, as well as notable figures from Hungary’s cultural and political life,” Dodik said.

He added that the meeting was also an opportunity for the Republika Srpska delegation — acting president Ana Trišić Babić, newly elected president Siniša Karan, and himself — to appear together, a detail also noted by Prime Minister Orbán.

“We said this was a gift to him, because it is rare in life to see three people who have performed, are performing, or will perform the presidential role all together. It shows that we are a team that will continue to work together. The key message we wanted to convey is that what is happening in Republika Srpska represents continuity — political and in every other sense — especially continuity of high-level cooperation with the Hungarian side,” Dodik emphasized.

The Republika Srpska delegation, which also includes BiH Ambassador to Hungary Biljana Gutić Bjelica, met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán earlier today.
