The Dayton Peace Agreement has fulfilled its mission, but it is now essential to halt all attempts to undermine it, concluded participants of the scientific conference “Dayton – Three Decades of Peace: Legacy and Perspectives” held in Banja Luka.

Constitutional law professor Mile Dmičić reminded that the foundation of the Dayton Agreement rests on the principles of two entities and three constituent peoples, emphasizing that Republika Srpska remains committed to peace, dialogue, and a return to the original Dayton framework, which secured lasting stability.
“From Republika Srpska, we once again stress the need to stop every possible action that undermines Dayton’s basic principles — especially those that disturb the balance between the principles of autonomy and statehood on one side, and joint functioning within the Dayton framework on the other,” said Dmičić.
Former member of the BiH Presidency Ivo Miro Jović noted that the main obstacle in Bosnia and Herzegovina has always been political Sarajevo’s persistent push for a ‘civic’ model, which in practice means the dominance of one nation.
“That is certainly not in the spirit of the Dayton Agreement, which was meant to build a state based on consensus and parity through peace and mutual trust. As a Croat in BiH, I can say that what we see today is majorization and outvoting,” Jović stated.
