The Minister of Family, Youth and Sports, Selma Čabrić, said that the qualification of Republika Srpska’s futsal team for the World School Championship for students under 18, to be held in Brazil, represents the crowning achievement of the School Sports Association, established in June last year.
“The significance of their participation in the tournament in Brazil is immeasurable. They will compete under the flag and anthem of Republika Srpska, which is both a major step forward and a great success — not only for these young athletes but also for the institutions that support them,” Čabrić told reporters in Banja Luka, where she hosted a reception for the Srpska futsal delegation.
She noted that the ministry has opened calls for three sectors, highlighting that the youth and family sectors have allocated a total of 280,000 KM, with individual project values capped at 5,000 KM.
“When it comes to sports, the funds are allocated differently — 840,000 KM has been earmarked for projects with a maximum value of 20,000 KM,” Čabrić explained.
Professor Predrag Drinić said that the qualification of Srpska’s futsal team for the World Championship is a great success, emphasizing that the team travels to the football homeland of Brazil with optimism.
“These boys have been training football for years. School sports sections have been formed, and they also play in clubs that continuously support us — which deserves praise. That cooperation is very important,” Drinić said.
National team member Aleksandar Stojičić, a second-year high school student, expressed his excitement about being part of the team.
“Going to Brazil is a huge success for us and for Republika Srpska, and we will give our best to justify that trust,” said Stojičić.
