Dodic: Access to decision-making centers is crucial for Republika Srpska

Access to global decision-making centers — primarily the United States and Russia — is of vital importance for Republika Srpska, President Milorad Dodik said in a morning television interview.

“Europe has been pushed aside. President Putin is determined not to abandon Russians on the Ukrainian side — he is fighting for 15 million people. The liberal political agenda has completely failed. What remains is only the defense of decaying systems,” Dodik stated.

He stressed that he has never hidden his opposition to U.S. President Joe Biden and what he described as attempts to undermine Republika Srpska.

“We fought against them. We faced strong pressure, sanctions, and fabricated processes — and even then, we made it clear that we expected President Donald Trump to return to power. Trump himself said that Biden’s administration is the worst government America has ever had — and we clashed with that administration. We continued to work persistently, including with people from Trump’s team even during Biden’s term. Trump suspended USAID, saying the United States should not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries,” Dodik said.

Dodik reiterated his long-standing view that Bosnia and Herzegovina is an unworkable state.

“BiH has always been in crisis. It is not reasonable to expect it to function. Bosniaks wanted a unitary state under their control, and that was the case back in 1991 when we established the National Assembly — I was there. We could have chosen to remain in a Muslim state and disappear. Serbs realized they had to fight for autonomy,” he said.

The only way forward, he stressed, is dialogue.

“As President Trump says — this is a matter for the people themselves. Without dialogue, BiH will fall apart. Europe does not even know where it is heading. We have worked tirelessly to preserve our partnership with the Russian Federation and considered it our obligation to support President Putin and understand that what is happening in Ukraine is Russia’s defense,” Dodik concluded.
