Gacko aiming for advancement in the return match

Gacko’s women’s volleyball team suffered a defeat in the first match of the Champions League qualifiers, but they still hold strong chances to progress to the next stage.

The team from Republika Srpska lost 2–3 in sets, yet they will have the opportunity to overturn the deficit in the return match in Trebinje and secure a place in the next round.

The first match was filled with comebacks, and in the end, Gacko’s players let slip their lead in the decisive fifth set, where they were close to victory. The home team twice took the lead — winning the first set 25:21 and the third 25:22 — but the Herzegovinian side kept responding.

Gacko claimed the second set 25:21 and the fourth 25:20. In the fifth and deciding set, they went ahead 4:1, but the home side managed to turn it around and celebrate with 18:16.

Meri Boškovska scored 26 points for the winning team. On Gacko’s side, Marija Fundup recorded 23 points, while Ivana Radović added 20.

The return match will be played in Trebinje.
