The Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, stated that there are ongoing attempts to obstruct the plans of Republika Srpska, but emphasized that the entity has built and maintains strong international friendships.
Speaking at the public forum “Conversation with the President” in Bijeljina, Cvijanović said that these friendships include ties with Hungary and Russia, and that things have also begun to change with the arrival of the new U.S. administration.
“When the elections were held in the United States, we wanted to contribute to bringing about change there as well, and we succeeded in doing so. We are pleased that it is the administration of Donald Trump, in which we have confidence,” Cvijanović said.
She noted that the current period is one of global realignment and the creation of new partnerships.
“In international relations, you can never have overly high expectations. What dominates in international affairs are partnerships based on shared interests,” Cvijanović explained.
She added that Republika Srpska continues to work diligently on building new friendships and partnerships.
Cvijanović pointed out that Republika Srpska has often been pushed into a position of inequality under the false pretense that “everyone is equal.”
“I believe the time is coming when we will be able to show that Republika Srpska has adequate responses to such challenges,” she said.
Cvijanović also emphasized that the forum in Bijeljina was very well attended, as expected.
“People expect and deserve answers, and they have shown exceptional maturity and understanding of the current situation. It is important that there is trust in our institutions and a willingness to always listen to one another. I am very pleased with both the turnout and the support. We continue forward. Long live Republika Srpska!” Cvijanović wrote in a post on the social network X.
